Northwoods Adventure: Brainerd Lakes Bicycle Safety Clinic

Although it was a chilly and breezy day kids in the Brainerd Lakes Area got a chance to get outside and get on their bicycles; maneuvering their way among a man-made safety course.

Along with the safety mock course routine bicycle check ups were made to adjust their seats, bicycle chains, and make sure their tires were full. The kids were also fitted for their very own helmets.

Before hitting the course, part of the program was teaching the kids bicycle safety rules and the hand signals for stopping, and a right and left turn.

By teaching kids the correct hand signals to use when making a turn or making a stop, law enforcement official hope the skills they learn on the course transferring over to when their are riding their bikes in their neighborhoods.

And teaching them the importance of wearing a helmet.
