Northwoods Adventure: Antique and Classic International Boat Show

The Land of 10,000 Lakes is no stranger to hosting boat shows every year. But for the first time, Lake Shore’s Bar Harbor was the host of the 40th Antique and Classic Boat Society’s International Boat Show.

About 130 antique boats lined the sprawling docks at Bar Harbor Supper Club on Gull Lake Saturday.

And the types of boats at the show represent an era with their mahogany stature and types of engines.

Among the 8,000 expected visitors, the local chapter named the Bob Speltz
Land of Lakes chapter, got to share the 10,000 treasures of the Minnesota area to the 56 other chapters of The Antique and Classic Boat Society.

And Minnesota’s own lake is competing with place like Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, Lake Geneva Lake Tahoe, and many more for their first opportunity to host.

Members of the organization got a chance to view the lake culture throughout the week.

The local chapter hopes that guests got a splash of what the northern Minnesota lakes area has to offer, to host more international boat show events in the future.
