Northome/Kelliher Girls’ Basketball Handles B/G-MR 68-31 at Home
Northome/Kelliher was a win away from their first ever section title in girls’ basketball a year ago, going 26-4 overall. They’ve started the season 9-1 and are currently ranked fourth in the state in Class A, so it’s safe to say they’ve picked up where they left off, and they’re doing it in dominant fashion, beating opponents by an average margin of victory of 47 points.
Monday night was no exception as they hosted Section 8A foe Badger/Greenbush-Middle River. Defense was the name of the game early for the Mustangs, and they wrestled the Gators no problem, winning 68-31.
It was Northome/Kelliher’s lowest scoring game on the season, but their defense was still on point, and the Mustangs have now won at least 10 games five years in a row. Kate Thayer, who broke the state record for steals a few weeks back, also had 20 points for the Mustangs.
