Nortech Systems Closing Manufacturing Plant in Merrifield

A manufacturing plant in Merrifield is closing with layoffs expected to affect 60 to 70 people.

Maple Grove-based Nortech Systems is shifting work from the plant in Merrifield to some of its other plants in Minnesota. The Merrifield plant does wire and cable assembly, system-level assembly, and printed circuit board manufacturing.

Employees have been notified, and layoffs are expected to begin in mid-October. The facility is expected to close by the end of the year.
