No Tree Stands Overnight

Tree stands are not allowed to be left overnight in state wildlife management areas, the DNR reminded hunters in a press release.

“The reason for this rule is to prevent hunters from pre-empting hunting spots. At the beginning of each day, all locations on these public lands are available to anyone on a first-come, first-served basis,” said Captain Jon Paurus, education programs coordinator with the MN DNR.

Portable stands, along with screwing or clamping devices are allowed to be used, as long as they are removed at the close of shooting hours, as reported in the release. Spikes and nails are not allowed.

With the Minnesota firearms deer season starting on Saturday, November 5th, the DNR is expecting approximately 500,000 hunters to participate in the event, with around 1.3 million acres of land in the state wildlife management areas to hunt in.
