New Ladder Truck Arrives At Bemidji Fire Station

A brand-new ladder truck arrived at the Bemidji Fire Station on Monday which has a bigger crew compartment that can hold up to five firefighters.

The ladder truck is replacing the department’s 27-year-old truck that only reaches 65 feet high. The new truck ladder is 110 feet and has a bucket at the end of the truck. The truck’s ladder will allow the fire crew to reach the top of buildings in town that they weren’t able to before.

“With the buildings we have now, our ISO actually stated that we needed something 100 feet or greater, and obviously with the 65 feet long ladder that we have now, we weren’t meeting that,” said Assistant Chief Chris Loebs.
