The Nevis boys’ basketball team will play in its first ever game at the Class A State Tournament Thursday.

The 26-3 Tigers receive the number five seed and open the event against four seed, 23-3 Central Minnesota Christian. The Bluejays focus on defense, where they surrender the second fewest points in Class A at only 42.5 per game.

Nevis plans to use their height to find good shots in the paint.
The Tigers’ starting five players all measure more than six feet tall.

Six feet, five inches tall transfer student Kevin Hale gives the Tigers the biggest advantage for finding open shots, grabbing rebounds, and closing opposing shooting lanes.

The Tigers can certainly hold their own on defense, allowing only 50.9 points per game. The Bluejays will look to spread out that defense on Thursday.
