Naytahwaush Student Succeeds in Establishing MN as ‘Third Graders Day’ on March 3rd

This coming Monday, March 3rd is officially Third Graders Day in Minnesota, and that’s thanks to the idea of a Naytahwaush third grader.

Karen Wadena, a student at Naytahwaush Community Charter School, noticed as her school celebrated Fourth Graders Day this past January and wondered why there was no Third Graders Day.

So, Wadena wrote a letter to the Minnesota Star Tribune that caught the eye of Gov. Tim Walz. The Governor’s office sent Wadena and school officials an email this week notifying them that Gov. Walz has written an official Minnesota proclamation naming March 3rd as Third Graders Day in Minnesota.
