NASA’s Perseverance Rover Successfully Lands on Mars

NASA has done it. The space program has successfully landed its most sophisticated rover yet on Mars.

The Perseverance rover landed without help or intervention from NASA teams on Earth. Scientists say it was an incredibly difficult “seven minutes of terror.” The rover had to slow from 12,000 mph to 1 mph in seven minutes.

Perseverance has been traveling through space since the end of July. It’s part of a two-year mission to look for signs of ancient life on the red planet. The rover will study the planet’s climate and geology.
