Representative Erin Murphy of Wisconsin, 56, a Democratic candidate, has placed her bid in the 2018 race to be the Minnesota governor.

Murphy’s campaign was launched Thursday after having discussed the possibility for more than a year.

Murphy told the Star Tribune that, “I want to make sure Minnesota is a place where everyone can get ahead. In the last couple years I have been frustrated that we are putting short-term politics ahead of creating opportunity for everyone.”

So far, Murphy is the only one who has cast her bid for the race to be the Minnesota governor. It is expected that additional running mates will place their bids soon.
