Only in Minnesota. That’s the slogan Explore Minnesota is pushing this weekend during the Governor’s Deer Opener. Explore MN is is pushing a social media campaign to encourage the tourists to return and generate more tourist in the future.

Explore MN public relations officer, Alyssa Ebel says, “#OnlyInMN is a user driven campaign that Explore Minnesota launched in April 2014 to promote Minnesota as a one of a kind travel destination.”
Explore MN director of tourism, John Edman, says, “Our tourism industry is a $12 billion dollar industry. And it’s important every season of the year. This particular time hunting is important and we’re happy to celebrate it.”

This weekend Explore Minnesota is especially pushing their #OnlyInMN campaign to get those who might not actually hunt more involved in the festivities.

Ebel says, “This weekend when all of the hunters are out trying to bag the bucks. If they can’t shoot a buck, we are encouraging everybody to shoot a picture in the woods and share it via social media via #OnlyInMN.”

Explore Minnesota is using their #OnlyInMN on facebook, twitter, instagram and pintrest. And every picture you send is another opportunity to be featured on Explore Minnesota’s channels.

Ebel says, “We’ve had more than 50,000 hashtag uses across all our social media platforms since 2014. The concept really shows that people are searching, they’re looking to social media networks for travel inspiration. It’s a great crowd sourcing tool for sure.”

So when you take those pictures this weekend during the Governor’s Deer Opener remember to upload them to social media using the #OnlyInMN. And your pic could be see by more than just your friends.
