A Moorhead middle school student has been arrested after authorities say he brought 1,500 pills suspected of containing fentanyl to Horizon Middle School.

Moorhead police officials say the school was tipped off, and a school resource office worked with school staff to detain the student and take possession of the pills. Authorities say the entire bag of pills could be sold for more than $35,000.

The Moorhead Narcotics Unit suspects the pills could contain fentanyl but still need to test them to be sure. Fentanyl is very dangerous for adults and even more dangerous for children.

The name of the student arrested has not been released.
