MnDOT trains 90 more snow plow operators

Training to move the snow. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is training new plow operators at Camp Ripley to be ready to clear snow during the upcoming winter months.
The two-week training program consists of classroom work, behind the wheel training and truck maintenance. MnDOT set up coned courses for the new operators to weaver their plows around.
Since snow isn’t a thought on this gorgeous summer day in the 70s, the training’s focus is less about plowing the snow and more about teaching the operators how to handle the trucks.
The new MnDot truck operators’ experience range from first time truck drivers to operators who grew up driving their farm equipment.
After this session MnDot will have trained more than 1,300 snowplow operators since 2004 using snowplow operator training program.
