MN Court of Appeals Rules DNR Lawful In Making Fish Limits

In a tug-a-war to save the population of the walleye in Mille Lacs Lake and the tourism economy, the Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the Department of Natural Resources today saying their making the right decisions for Mille Lacs and the walleye population.
The local businesses say they filed the lawsuit against the DNR to preserve the fishing heritage on Mille Lacs Lake. And they say they’ve seen a noticeable decrease in tourism at what they call the walleye capital, since the 1998 implantation.
Earlier this fall the DNR said they found the highest number of walleye yearlings since 2008 and are continuing to investigate why so few walleye have matured.
