MN Breweries Asking for Changes to Alcohol Packaging Laws

Local breweries are asking for some Minnesota laws to be adjusted during the current legislative session.

The current packaging laws on alcohol in Minnesota are vastly different from other states around the country, where locally owned breweries can sell the more recognizable 12 oz. cans in four- or six-packs. In Minnesota, that’s not allowed, and breweries have to sell single cans sized at 750 ml. Getting your hands on these, in a pandemic when only one manufacturer makes them, was extremely hard on companies.

The new bill, the Drink Local Economic Recovery Package, was introduced on February 11. Its goal is to restructure the way breweries can sell their beer from their facilities.
