MN Bars and Restaurants Now Eligible to Have Outdoor Dining

Gov. Walz updated his bar and restaurant restrictions Tuesday, and although he is keeping indoor dining closed, he did create a way for those establishments to sever their patrons.

Restaurants and bars are now eligible to have outdoor dining at 50% capacity. If those establishments put up tents, half of the walls would have to be down. Tony Chesak, executive director of the Minnesota Licensed Beverage Association, said he’s happy that restaurants are given this opportunity, but questions why other industries aren’t being as scrutinized.

While bars and restaurants can hold outdoor dining, the restrictions on indoor dining were originally set to expire on Friday. Walz has since pushed that back, keeping indoor dining unavailable at this point and time.
