Minnesota State Representative Dave Hancock Will Not Seek Re-Election

ST. PAUL, MINN. – State Representative Dave Hancock (R-Bemidji) announced today that he will not seek re-election and will retire following the conclusion of his current term in January.

“I’d like to thank the citizens in House District 2A for their support over the years, and for the opportunity to represent their interests in St. Paul,” Hancock said. “It has truly been an honor and a privilege. The experiences shared and the friendships made are highly treasured. I am looking forward to continuing my service again this session, but moving forward I wish to spend more time with my wife, family, and friends.”

Hancock is serving his second non-consecutive term in the Minnesota House representing Lake of the Woods, Clearwater, Hubbard, and Beltrami counties. Hancock is known as a common-sense conservative who believes government exists to serve the people – not to regulate or punish them – and consistently supports policies that practiced fiscal responsibility and limited government intrusion in your lives.

As a veteran of the United States Army, Hancock was honored to be named Vice-Chairman of the Minnesota House Veterans Affairs Division last session. He championed initiatives for the men and women who fought for our freedoms, and is the chief-author of legislation that would build veterans homes in Bemidji and Montevideo.

“It has been truly humbling to serve as the voice of roughly 40,000 northern Minnesotans with differing backgrounds and mindsets,” Hancock said. “But while I am not seeking re-election, residents should remember that I will continue to represent them until a new state representative is seated in 2017. As always, I encourage them to contact me with any legislative questions or concerns.”

Hancock can be reached by phone at 651-296-4265 or 218-766-4264. He can also be contacted via email at [email protected], or by U.S. Mail at 575 State Office Building, St. Paul, MN 55155.
