Minnesota Disasters Exhibit Opens At Beltrami County History Center

A new exhibit at the Beltrami County History Center has opened its doors. Inside the Minnesota Disasters exhibit, visitors get to learn stories of man made and natural disasters from Minnesota’s past. The exhibit covers everything from bridge collapses to fires.

Panels of photographs showcase the tragedy of disasters like tornadoes, blizzards, and floods, but the exhibit also features stories of survival and heroism. There is also  an interactive monitor where people can watch video coverage of the actual disasters.

The Beltrami County Historical Society hopes that sharing these stories will ultimately help people plan for any future disasters. One visitor said, “Learning what you can from other peoples’ experiences and how to overcome difficulties is kind of what I get out of these exhibits and what I get out of history.”

The exhibit will be open at the Beltrami County History Center from now until the end of July.
