One driving school continues to serve instruction for students in Brainerd as well as seven other surrounding cities. Mille Lacs Driving Instruction expanded to Brainerd when the Brainerd Driving School closed its doors last fall. And for a few months now they have made their location more permanent in the Brainerd Area continuing to help teens become safer drivers.

Located just past downtown Brainerd on Laurel Street, Mille Lacs Driving Instruction has made their location more permanent in the Brainerd area. The commercial drivers education school started back in 2005 in Isle, but has continued to grow business among the area.

Mille Lacs Driving Instruction is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. Their instructors strive to put an emphasis on the basics helping teens become better drivers

The class offers 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 ox those hours are behind the wheel. And those behind the wheel hours are crucial with new laws increasing the amount to 50 hours of driving for students during their permit time.

And student say working with the Instructors makes them feel comfortable enough to get behind the wheel.

And what started as a part-time gig, soon turned teaching a project number of 450 kids stretching from Barnam to Brainerd on how to stay safe behind the wheel.
