Medical Marijuana Now Legal In Minnesota

Starting today in Minnesota a patient has to have one of nine qualifying conditions in order to be prescribed medical marijuana: cancer, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, Tourette syndrome, ALS, seizures, muscle spasms, Crohn’s Disease and terminal illnesses. And a Cuyuna Regional Medical Center pharmacist says medical marijuana helps the brain cope with those conditions.

The law doesn’t allow for medical marijuana leaves to be smoked. It only permits it to be consumed in pill, oil or vaporization of the oil, which will keep the medical compounds in tacked.

Pharmacists say medical marijuana is less addictive and harmful than traditional pain kills which the center for disease control says kills about 44 people per day from overdose.

LeafLine Labs says the Minnesota model is already starting to be used by other states because how the law will be implemented makes it easy to distinguish between medical and illegal recreational use.
