Manufacturings Has a Sparkling Future, But 1 Growing Problem

The slicing, welding, creating and manufacturing world in Minnesota has a sparkling future. However coming out of the recession manufacturing companies are faced with a growing problem.

Over a decade ago Central Lakes College says they had over 100 students taking part in their manufacturing classes. Now that number has dwindled to fewer than 30. And CLC says they’re looking to grow more technical students here in Minnesota.

With the economy booming out of the recession, the job for the government and businesses is to find new ways of attracting quality workers for the right price.

Over 70% of firms say it’s growing increasingly difficult to attract young workers. And in more rural Minnesota it becomes harder to attract families because the companies will have to help find two jobs instead of just one.
