Log Crafters Build Shelter in Bemidji

Members of the Great Lakes Log Crafters Association are putting up a new building in Bemidji’s Cameron Park.

The wooden shelter, which was almost completely finished on Thursday by a company called Heim Log Homes, will bring summer shade to those who visit the area.

This is the second project of its kind by Heim’s crew in town. They were allowed to use the wood they cleaned up from severe storms, which happened in 2012 at Diamond Point Park, to create a similar building in the Nymore area of Bemidji.

Workers installed tall columns of wood into rock bases before working on building up the siding.

The group’s older members volunteered their time to help teach the Heim crew important log crafting skills.
