Local Pizzeria Looks to Give Back this Holiday Season

A local pizzeria owner is giving thanks to the community he grew up in by hosting a free Thanksgiving Dinner. He says the Brainerd Lakes Community is the base of his business.

“We are always looking for opportunities to give back to the community.” Said Chris Moran, Owner of Boomer Pizza in Baxter. “And this is one of the ways that we give back to the community is giving out pizzas to people that are in need on Thanksgiving Day.”

Boomer Pizza and the United Way have teamed up to make sure everyone has a place to feel wanted this holiday season. Amy Gray, who is the Community Relations Specialist of the United Way,  said “It’s just when a small business like this, or any organization in our community really wants to reach out and meet the needs that we have for so many people that are really struggling, to me that just really epitomizes what United Way is really all about. Boomer Pizza’s done a great job in really helping to identify the need in our community and then do what they as a small business can do to reach out and fill that need.”

But for the local pizzeria, it’s about more than profits and a good advertisement; it’s about good food, and a sense of family.”

Moran then went on to say “it’s all about giving people a great tasting meal on Thanksgiving Day. We just want to be the restaurant that provides for people in need. Come in with your family, come in with your friends, and we’ll take care of you.”

Boomer wants to welcome those who may not have a meal, and anyone else in need this holiday season to be a part of their Thanksgiving family. They are located next to Cub Foods and Great Clips in Baxter.
