Local Org. Helps Older Job Seekers Reenter Workforce

There are immediate openings for older job seekers who need assistance getting back into the workforce, particularly in Becker, Beltrami, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Pennington and Roseau counties.

Experience Works, a local non-profit organization, operates the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) in 56 Minnesota counties. The program funded by the U.S. Dept. of Labor, is geared for people 55 and older who are unemployed and income eligible.

The program also helps applicants bridge skill gaps and build confidence for a successful job search.

Participants will receive minimum wage, and spend an average of 18 hours a week in paid community service assignments at public and non-profit organizations. That includes performing clerical and administrative duties, sorting donations at food banks, preparing meals and recreation at senior centers, or assisting in classrooms and libraries.

They also have access to training and supportive services such as developing a resume, refine interview skills and identifying job opportunities.
