Local Brainerd Celebrity Joe Plut is Raising over $50,000 for his Scholarship Fund

It’s pretty hard to have a bad day if you run into local Brainerd celebrity Joe Plut around town. He was given the nickname “Mad Hugger” for a reason. Plut is known for giving out daily hugs to everyone he meets. He does it just to spread a little love. This simple act of kindness has acquired national attention

Currently Joe is spreading more than love with his Joseph Plut Scholarship Fund At Central Lakes College. Plut is a retired teacher from CLC and has always had a passion for his students. The scholarship fund was started in his honor fifteen years ago by a former pupil.

Over the years he has raised over $40,000 in scholarships for his fund. Now he is asking the community to help him achieve his goal of raising over $50,000 for the fund.

In order to achieve this goal Plut has partnered up with some local businesses.

Plut only needs $9,000 to achieve his goal so far he has raised around $560 .
