The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe has a new Secretary-Treasurer and he has a familiar name.

Arthur “Archie” LaRose won Tuesday’s General Election with more than 57 percent of the vote. Larose previously served as Secretary-Treasurer for the band from 2002-2008. He was also the band’s chairman from 2008-2012.

LaRose received 1282 votes compared to 936 votes for incumbent Donald “Mick” Finn.

Penny Devault topped James Howard in the In the District 1 election. Devault received 370 votes compared to Howard’s 136. Incumbent Robbie Howe did not seek reelection

The results were officially certified on Wednesday.
