Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Breaks Ground on Ball Club Wellness Center

The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and the State of Minnesota recently partnered for a historic financial package that brought two new wellness centers to the reservation, as well as an expansion for the Kego Lake Community Center. Last Friday, the band broke ground on the new wellness center coming to Ball Club.

“This has been a long time coming,” said Leonard Fineday, Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe Secretary/Treasurer, during the event. “[Discussions] about these wellness centers have been going on for over a decade.”

“That is going to not only provide that kind of recreation that keeps us all healthy, but also the kind of place that welcomes the community as well,” said DFL state Sen. Mary Kunesh, District 39.
