Lawmakers Discuss Special Session Possibilities

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – Discussions about a potential special session in Minnesota are taking place this week.

A group of lawmakers met Tuesday to talk about a proposed $1 billion package that would cover public construction projects. It is one of several issues that state officials need to fix if they do choose to call the session.

A $260 million tax cut package could also be revived. It was originally vetoed by Gov. Mark Dayton after wording errors were spotted, which he said could have cost the state millions of dollars. He says lawmakers will not be called back for a special session unless they agree to pass a public works bill with more additional spending.

There are still disagreements among lawmakers about transportation and mass transit projects. Dayton and legislative leaders are expected to meet Wednesday for a status check on those problems.
