You can find Big Bass Lake off the Northeast corner of Lake Bemidji.  The Public Access is located on Tall Pines Road on the South tip of Big Bass Lake.

The surrounding land is mostly privately owned, so that rules out swimming.  The wildlife makes the trip worth it, but fishing is the number one reason to visit Big Bass Lake, which is appropriately named.

In addition to bass, you can find crappie, bluegill, walleye, sunfish, and northern pike.

The fish bite best in the plentiful cabbage.  Bring a wide variety of lures and have fun.
