Lake Bemidji Debris Removal
Lake Bemidji’s upcoming south shore cleanup is receiving $1.6 million in funding from the government.
The Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council awarded the funds to Bemidji after hearing about wood chips that have been at the bottom of the water for years.
The city plans to remove these chips using a portable dam, which will be installed next week, and will also remove dead trees from the area while planting new things. The goal is to create a park for the public that features a more natural landscape.
