Jean Slindee: Minnesota’s Volunteer Of The Year

She loves and she laughs, and she’s even more known for when she gives – she’s Jean Slindee.

You can never find Slindee alone, she is always visiting someone. Standing strong at 86-years-old, she has always known where her heart is.

“I’ve always loved old people, for some reason they have the most interesting past.”

Since the Blackduck Good Samaritan building first opened back in 1970, Slindee, who was still in high school at that time has started volunteering by serving lunches.

She is also a leader, Slindee was the first female member at the Blackduck Chamber of Commerce, and the first woman city council member.

A simple woman, so loved by the community, that Slindee has been selected as one of two Care Providers of Minnesota’s Volunteer of the Year.

And her friends say no one else is more than worthy of this honor.

Slindee will receive her award at the annual Care Providers of Minnesota conference in Bloomington November 15.
