Jackson Elected Leech Lake Tribal Chairperson; Fairbanks Reelected District III Rep

The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwa held its election last Tuesday, according to a story in the Bemidji Pioneer. Faron Jackson Sr., defeated incumbent Carri Jones and five other challengers, to win the race for Leech Lake Tribal Chairperson with nearly 53 percent for he vote. In another election, incumbent Leroy Staples Fairbanks III was reelected with nearly 78 percent of the vote to keep his position as District III Representative.
