It’s All About The Bass On Mille Lacs Lake This Weekend

If you are a bass fishing enthusiast, this weekend Mille Lacs Lake is the place to be.

With a one- hundred- thousand dollars prize at stake for the pro angler who bags the 15 largest fish in the three-day Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year Championship.

This is the first time the elite series has chosen a Minnesota lake.

Since the lake has been hit hard by the walleye crisis, Mille Lacs lake businesses are expecting the tournament to draw large crowds.

The competition will continue Friday and Sunday. On Saturday, all the pros hold what is known as Bassmaster University, consisting of free clinics to teach people how to bass fish.

Thursday’s top angler pulled in five fish with a total weight of 26-and-a-half pounds.

Currently Gerald Swindle, of Guntersville, Alabama, holds first place.
