Intruder Causes School Lockdown

A Bemidji school plans to change security after an intruder entered the building on Tuesday.

26-year-old Billie Joe Large had been arrested for possessing meth and violating parole. At 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, he escaped authorities and entered St. Philip’s school as kids were leaving for the bus.

Police found Large under a third floor desk in a matter of minutes.

St. Philip’s officials say security changes, including a new intercom system, are going to be implemented soon for all teachers.
