International Falls State Representative Earns Spot On Leadership Team

State Rep. Rob Ecklund (DFL-International Falls) was selected by his peers to serve as House Assistant Minority Leader for the 2017-2018 season on Saturday.

In his new role Rep. Ecklund will aid Rep. Melissa Hortman (DFL-Brooklyn Park) and the leadership team in advocating for caucus priorities on the House floor.

“Right now we need to make sure that we are standing up for working families in every corner of the state,” said Rep. Ecklund.  “Too many people are struggling to get by because our economy favors the well-connected and the special interests. Workers struggle to find housing near employers, local businesses struggle competing with a global economy that depends on access to broadband, and middle-class families struggle to find jobs that pay a livable wage. We have major challenges ahead of us, but I am looking forward to working with my House colleagues to make Minnesota a better home for everyone.”

Rep. Ecklund represents District 03A and will be sworn in for his second term in the Minnesota house on Jan. 3rd.
