In Focus: Kairos Alive! Brings Dance Hall to Bemidji

Dance is a defining art for many cultures, but the Kairos Alive! group is discovering how the power of dance can bring different people together. The group made a stop in Bemidji this week to show how participatory dance, music, and story can positively impact well-being.

Maria Genne started the group to bridge cultures and generations. She now hosts dance halls to bring people of all ages and abilities together under one roof. The Kairos team got everyone tapping their toes and moving to the beat, even people in wheel chairs.

People spent almost two hours on their feet, and the dance hall encouraged everyone to continue dancing everyday. So whether it’s waltzing for wellness or twirling for togetherness, for this group, art is the key to bringing everyone together.
