In Focus: Bemidji Artist Makes Her Way To Uganda
Jessie Marianiello has been painting pet portraits for nearly a decade, and more recently photographing wild horses all over the country. But soon she will be starting a new chapter in her life, moving to Uganda, Africa.
It all started after her fiancé was killed in a car accident two years ago. Since then, she started searching for purpose. After visiting Uganda three times in the past year, she started an organization called The Joy Collective. She will help with food production and mentoring children.
She fell in love with the place and people, knowing she is right where she needs to be.
Marianiello had her final art exhibit Friday through Bemidji’s monthly first Friday art walk event, to say farewell to the people she knows and love.
Even though nearly 8,000 miles away, she says she will not stop painting nor capturing moments through her lens.
