Icy Roads Cause Serious Accident On Highway 71 Sending Drivers To The Hospital
A 26-year old Blackduck man was seriously injured after being involved in a two-car crash after driving on icy roads Monday evening on U.S. Highway 71 in Beltrami County.
According to the incident report from the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash was reported at 10:04 at milepost 322 located on Highway 71.
According to patrol, a 2001 GMC Sierra was driving northbound on Highway 71 and a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix was driving southbound when the Grand Prix lost control on the icy road. The Grand Prix crossed the centerline and was struck on the passenger side by GMC vehicle.
According to the report the driver and the passenger of the GMC vehicle were taken to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The driver in the Grand Prix was also wearing his seatbelt.
