Highway 169 Construction Begins

Major changes are coming to a 1.5 mile stretch of highway 169. The two lane road will now expand into a four-roadway.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will begin construction on the expansion of the Highway 169 Cross-Range Expressway starting Monday.

The four-lane expansion will start from the east end of the Bovey Bypass and end just past Scenic Highway (County Road 7) at Gibbs Park Road.

Construction will run from Sept. 12 until early November. Construction will be suspended until May 2017, when work on Highway 169 will start again with a projected completion in early fall 2017.

No detours will be put in place during the project and motorists can expect periodic lane closures throughout this fall’s construction.

Those who will be driving that stretch of roadway can anticipate up to a 15-minute wait when traveling through the project area this fall.

The rest of the project construction will be done in 2017
