Hackensack Man Arrested Following Shooting in Rural Backus

A Hackensack man has been arrested following a shooting in Cass County Thursday night.

The Sheriff’s Office says they received 911 calls around 11:30 p.m. about a shooting that happened at a residence in rural Backus. There, first responders learned a 34-year-old Pine River man had been shot while exiting a vehicle. The victim was flown to a Fargo hospital with unknown injuries.

Several witnesses helped identify a suspect, and that person, a 47-year-old man from Hackensack, was arrested. Authorities say the victim and suspect are known to each other and that there is no threat to the public.

No names have been released, and the incident is still under investigation.
