Hackensack Lightening Strike Causes Injury


HACKENSACK- A fisherman was struck by lightning Sunday morning.

The Cass County Sherriff’s office received a report around 10:38 AM that three adult males had been on a boat on Baby Lake in rural Hackensack when one was struck by lightening.

The adult male victim has been identified as Wei Wei age 48 of Iowa. Wei Wei is in serious condition at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. The other adult male on the boat Max Wei, age 18, and a juvenile male were evaluated at a Brainerd Hospital.

One adult male was transported via North Air Care to a Twin Cities hospital and 2 adult males were taken by North Ambulance to the Brainerd Hospital.

Assisting at the scene were the Hackensack and Longville First Responders, MN DNR Conservation, MN State Patrol, North Memorial Ambulance and AirCare.
