Grand Rapids Volleyball Looks To Get Back To State

After getting blanked by North Branch in the Section 7AAA final last year, the Thunderhawks fell short of their goal of a second straight state berth, leaving a bad taste in their mouths heading in to this season.

This year’s team certainly won’t lack experience, as they return seven players with a lot of varsity experience, including three seniors, their setter and multiple hitters. With so many returners, the Thunderhawks are going to spread the ball around and attack from many positions. And they believe they’re a very balanced team – more so than previous years.

And even though a section title and a return trip to state remain their goals, they say for probably the first time, they refuse to look that far ahead. Even though they believe they have the talent necessary to make it.
