Grand Rapids Man Receives One Year Ban From School

A man at the Grand Rapids High School Football game on Saturday that was causing problems and using foul language was cited for disorderly conduct, according to Grand Rapids Police reports. He’s been identified as Brian Oftelie a candidate for the ISD 318 School Board.

“I myself don’t know what’s going on,” said Brian Oftelie to Lakeland News.

The officer at the scene stated when Oftelie was asked what was wrong he mentioned the score of the game. Oftelie then jumped off his bike in an aggressive manner. The report also says that Oftelie appeared to be intoxicated and refused to exit the house when officers asked him to do so.

Oftelie refutes the officer’s claims and says he just went to a football game and wasn’t acting disorderly and didn’t have slurred speech. These recent events can cause Oftelie the election and that’s something he’s aware of.

“I hope I win the election,” said Oftelie. “But this is definitely going to hurt me because it’s not true.”

Oftelie also received a Trespass Notice on behalf of ISD 318 and isn’t allowed on any of its property for one year. He says whoever delivered the notice was trespassing because they just walked right into his apartment.

“I’m not guilty,” said Oftelie. “I didn’t do anything wrong.”
