Grand Casino Mille Lacs lends a hand in Brainerd

Renovating more than a home, but a dream. Grand Casino Mille Lacs remodeled a home in Brainerd as part of their Lend A Hand program.
The Lend A Hand program receives nominee from the community of deserving candidates. They then narrow the nominees to five to visit to see who is the most deserving financially or physically. This year Grand Casino Mille Lacs chose three winners with the biggest makeover being the home of Jennie Crowley.
Crowley and her daughter say she’s thankful to have the help from Grand Casino Mille Lacs to do for her in a day what her cerebral palsy wouldn’t allow her to do.
The renovators fixed rotting floor boards, repainted the back porch, weeded the property, trimmed the trees and hedges, created a new cement sidewalk and made a new garden in the back.
Crowley lived in an apartment for most of her adult life before buying her house in 2008. She says she was never truly happy because she didn’t have a backyard of her own.
