GPS Bear Tracking

The DNR wants to know more about how bears in Chippewa National Forest are behaving.

They’re planning to use collars with GPS tracking capabilities on a select number of bears, located in an area between Grand Rapids and Bigfork, in order to locate them and observe their eating and reproduction behavior.

The DNR hopes to improve the bear population in Minnesota with the results of this study.
