Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan announced Thursday the appointment of Matthew Mallie as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District.

Mr. Mallie will be replacing the Honorable Earl E. Maus and will be chambered in Brainerd in Crow Wing County.

Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District consists of Aitkin, Beltrami, Cass, Clearwater, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Itasca, Kittson, Koochiching, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, and Roseau counties.

“I am honored to appoint Matthew Mallie as a District Court Judge in the Ninth Judicial District,” Governor Walz said. “Whether as a private practitioner, a public servant, or an engaged community member, Matthew has shown his dedication to justice and serving others.”

“Matthew demonstrated a clear commitment to his community,” Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan said. “Throughout his career, he has taken the time to build strong relationships with important stakeholders. He will serve all Minnesotans, especially the people of Brainerd, well.”

Mr. Mallie is a solo practitioner at Mallie Law Offices, P.A., where he maintains general practice. Additionally, he serves as the city prosecutor for multiple cities in Crow Wing County and as a conflict attorney for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.
