Good Food, Good Life, 365 – Make Ahead Steel-Cut Oats

 

Oatmeal For a Week

1 2/3 cups steel-cut oats

4 cups water

Salt, if desired

Gather 5 wide-mouth pint-sized jars with lids, or glass bowls with tight-fitting lids.

Bring the oats, water and salt to a boil in a medium-sized saucepan.  Reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes. Remove from heat.

Ladle the hot mixture evenly into five glass jars or bowls. Place lids on jars or bowls and seal tightly. Leave on the kitchen counter overnight.

The next morning, put all but one of the jars in the refrigerator. Take the cap off one jar and stir up the oatmeal inside. Microwave for 2 to 3 minutes or until hot. Add your favorite mix-ins. Eat!
