Golden Apple: Laporte’s Growing Garden

A Laporte garden project has grown from where it started a year ago.

Students planted seeds last spring before picking the harvest in the fall. Now, after raising over $20,000 over the last half year, the school is pushing for more.

Nearly 20 raised beds, a greenhouse and a teaching area will be placed in the same grassy area in the back of the school. Plants that students are growing in classrooms and as part of an elementary garden club will be a part of the 2016 garden.

The setup will be finished in the near future after a shipment of dirt is delivered for the plants.
