‘Friends of the Pine River Library’ Holds Book Sale at Cass County Fair

The group Friends of the Pine River Library is working to get books into readers’ hands, raise funds to support the library, and build community and connections. That’s why they held the 2026 Summer Book Sale series at the Cass County Fair last month.

Anyone who stopped by the book sale had the opportunity to choose from hardcovers, paperbacks, books on CD, puzzles, and more. Those involved with the non-profit group are happy to help focus public attention on the library’s resources and services.

“We’ve also switched to it being a free-will-donation pricing system, and it has exploded,” said Nolita Christensen, a member of Friends of the Pine River Library. “It’s amazing how many books get donated from the public. People can come and treasure hunt, find what they like. If there’s something they see that a friend or a neighbor or a Little Free Library could use, we ask them, ‘Take it, get it back out into the world.'”

Friends of the Pine River Library is planning another book sale on Jul. 31 and Aug. 1, again at the Cass County Fairgrounds.
