Friendly Rider Transit Opens New Facility

After 12 years and nearly half-a-million rides, Friendly Rider Transit has a building to call home after an official ribbon cutting yesterday. Friendly Rider is a transit service in Wadena County, and for about the cost of a cup of coffee, anyone can ride.

MnDOT is backing Friendly Rider in their efforts to serve the community, and they have big hopes for the transit system. With the newer, bigger building, that means more buses for Friendly Rider. Which also means a possible extended schedule, and maybe even some late night transit service to help avoid drunk driving.

If any changes are made to Friendly Rider’s transit system, they say they wouldn’t come in to effect until January 1st of next year.
